Cactus Wrap

The Cactus Wrap was a bit of an experiment of how wide can I get a 2 color “photo knit” without losing too much detail. The finished width I got was 62″. I used tension 4.3 for 2 strands each color 2/24 yarn) which did add some grin through (back fabric showing through). I usually knit my photo knits in 3 or 4 colors with a finer yarn and tighter tension which retains a lot of detail from the photo. A 3 and 4 color technique would not give me the width (of finished item) I wanted thus the reason for this being a bit of an experiment.

The finished width of the Cactus Wrap was 62″ which was perfect. The length was 36″ which is a great length for a wrap. If you want to knit the wrap and have more detail (in the flower), tighten up the tension a click or two (on both beds) if you are using 2/24 yarn. If you want the width, keep it at 4.3. I used 2 strands of each color of 2/24 yarn. Cast on #3 stitches 88-0-88 which is 176 stitches. It was 128 pattern rows and 512 actual lock passes. (On Wincrea enter 176s and 128r). The cast off I used is described in detail on this post. I am sharing the files for Designaknit .stp and Wincrea .bmp. Your are free to use the design for personal use. The Pineapple Blanket

Front of blanket shown above.

The Pineapple is a simple, clean design. You could easily add text to the bottom border. I wanted this to be completely reversible so I did not add text. Knit on E6000 technique 186 2 color double bed jacquard. Cast on #3 88-0-88 total of 176 stitches. Both end needles are on the back bed. 248 pattern rows and 992 actual lock passes. This was knit with 2 strands 2/24 of each color tension 4.2 on both locks. Finished size 62″ wide by 74″ long. I used the cast off described in this post. I am sharing the files for Designaknit .stp and .bmp for Wincrea for your personal use. If you knit this to sell, please credit Herman Hills Farm for the design. 🙂

Simple Tuck Blanket

I knit this a couple of weeks ago and forgot to write a post for it. This is a single bed tuck blanket knit on the Silver Reed SK860. A simple Chevron design from Charlene Shafer’s book: Tuck Lap Robes and Baby Blankets The book came with a cd/disk with the .stp files for Designaknit. It is a good book for quick and easy projects.

I used Tamm Spirit coned yarn which is available from Knit Knack Shop. This yarn is machine washable and great for baby items. The finished blanket size was 36” x 42.”
