Cactus Wrap

The Cactus Wrap was a bit of an experiment of how wide can I get a 2 color “photo knit” without losing too much detail. The finished width I got was 62″. I used tension 4.3 for 2 strands each color 2/24 yarn) which did add some grin through (back fabric showing through). I usually knit my photo knits in 3 or 4 colors with a finer yarn and tighter tension which retains a lot of detail from the photo. A 3 and 4 color technique would not give me the width (of finished item) I wanted thus the reason for this being a bit of an experiment.

The finished width of the Cactus Wrap was 62″ which was perfect. The length was 36″ which is a great length for a wrap. If you want to knit the wrap and have more detail (in the flower), tighten up the tension a click or two (on both beds) if you are using 2/24 yarn. If you want the width, keep it at 4.3. I used 2 strands of each color of 2/24 yarn. Cast on #3 stitches 88-0-88 which is 176 stitches. It was 128 pattern rows and 512 actual lock passes. (On Wincrea enter 176s and 128r). The cast off I used is described in detail on this post. I am sharing the files for Designaknit .stp and Wincrea .bmp. Your are free to use the design for personal use. IF you sell items using the file, please credit Herman Hills Farm for the design.
