(Gimp is a free PC photo editor)<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>On top menu bar go to: filters\/blur\/pixilize and change all numbers to 1.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>(This can be seen in Hazel Draper\u2019s video <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=MlYffm1_G8o&amp;t=117s\"><span class=\"s2\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=MlYffm1_G8o&amp;t=117s<\/span><\/a> )<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Then export your photo as shown in video.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Open photo in <a href=\"https:\/\/softbyte.co.uk\/designaknit.htm\">Designaknit<\/a>\u00a0(DAK) Graphics Studio.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Once your photo is imported in DAK, you can just click the Wizard to do the rest.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I don\u2019t change much in DAK.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>You can look at the birdseye to see if more or less looks better.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I usually merge the boundaries and make sure it is 4 colors.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>You can always go back and change these settings.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">When you are on the page with the yarn color\/wool box, you can mess around with combining colors using the small left dropper.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>This is the only part of the process that may take time depending on how you want your image to look.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Once you are done editing in Graphics Studio, click \u201cok\u201d to save and the image will open as a stitch file in Stitch Designer.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>You can now remove things you don\u2019t like from your stitch pattern.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I removed the ear tag from the sheep in Stitch Designer\u2026even though it also removed the ear which was behind the tag BUT I wanted the eye on the left to show up better and had to do without an ear. lol<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I bet no one will notice once it is knit though.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Tip:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>You may need to rescale your image.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>You can do this in DAK or Gimp.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Remember knit stitches are not squares (as shown in DAK) and your image may end up being elongated when knit.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I usually rescale in DAK Stitch Designer.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>In top menu bar click: modify\/rescale . Unclick the \u201cmaintain aspect ratio\u201d box in Stitch Designer. Delete rows to squish pattern a bit. You will need to guess a bit on this.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It will elongate once knit.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>If there is a secret formula for this, please let me know!<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>lol<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Step 4 is probably the most important step for editing the photo.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>You want to edit so that the pupil and iris of the eye is very clear.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>So you will over expose the photo by turning up the exposure.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The photo will get lighter\u2026 Then you need to darken everything by adding quite a lot of black with the \u201cblacks\u201d adjustment.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>You will see adding the darks will even darken the eyes for more definition.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The knit below was knit in 3 colors T195 Passap E6000 double bed
